Premium flat sheets designed in Australia from breathable Bamboo-cotton. Shop now.
The flat sheet is probably the most overlooked piece of bedding in Australia. A lot of people skip it altogether, or just accept whatever comes in a set without thinking twice. Which is a shame, because your flat sheet is the layer your skin spends the most time against overnight. The fabric matters more here than it does on any other piece of bedding you own.
At The Lad Collective, our flat sheets are made to be the piece you actually notice. Not just something to tick off the bed setup list.
A lot of flat sheets, are made from polyester or microfibre blends. They're cheap, they look fine in photos, and they feel noticeably worse to sleep under. Synthetic fabrics don't breathe. They trap heat against your skin, hold moisture, and create that clammy feeling that wakes you up at 2am.
Cotton is a genuine step up, and there's a reason it's been the bedding standard for a long time. But our flat sheets take it further with a bamboo-cotton blend. Bamboo fibre is naturally moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating in a way that even good cotton can't quite match. It draws warmth and humidity away from your skin rather than letting it build. Paired with cotton's structure and durability, you get a flat sheet that sits light and cool even in summer, and gets noticeably softer with every wash.
If you share a bed with someone who runs warm, or if you tend to wake up in the night feeling overheated, the flat sheet is the layer where this change is most felt.
Flat sheet sizing trips people up more than it should. The general rule: go one size up.
A queen mattress pairs best with a king flat sheet. A double bed works well with a queen. The extra width gives you enough overhang to tuck in firmly if you like a neat finish, or to let it fall naturally if you don't. Either way the sheet sits properly across the bed rather than pulling tight and riding up.
Our flat sheets are cut generously within each size. If you're buying a complete set, each piece is sized to work together as a proper bed setup.
Not sure whether to tuck or leave loose? Both work. Tucking gives a cleaner look and keeps the sheet from shifting overnight. Leaving it loose is more relaxed and still does the same job: a breathable layer between you and your quilt that keeps the quilt cleaner for longer. See our Size Guide for more information.
Our flat sheets are available individually or as part of a complete sheet set. Each set includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and the relevant pillowcases for your bed size, all in the same bamboo-cotton fabric and finish so everything matches.
Available in Double, Queen, and King. If you already have a fitted sheet you're happy with, the flat sheet is available on its own so you're not buying pieces you don't need.
A lot of flat sheets start soft and go downhill. After a few months of regular washing they feel thinner, rougher, and like something you're tolerating rather than something you chose.
Our bamboo-cotton flat sheets go the other way. The fibre structure responds well to washing. Over the first six months most people find them noticeably softer rather than deteriorating. Over 200,000 customers have bought from The Lad Collective, and the feedback that comes back most consistently is this: the sheets improve with use.
We offer a 90-night sleep trial on all flat sheet purchases. If the feel, temperature performance, or overall quality isn't noticeably better than what you were sleeping on before, send them back. No questions, no restocking fees.

Do I actually need a Flat Sheet?
You don't have to use one, but most people find they're glad they did. A flat sheet sits between you and your quilt, which means the quilt stays cleaner for longer and you can wash the sheet regularly without stripping the whole bed. In warmer months a lot of people sleep under just the flat sheet on its own. It's a simple layer that earns its place.
What size Flat Sheet do I need?
Go one size up from your mattress. A queen mattress works best with a king flat sheet, a double with a queen. Our flat sheets are cut generously within each size so you'll have enough drape to tuck or leave loose, whichever you prefer. For more information, visit our Size Guide.
What's the difference between a Flat Sheet and a Fitted Sheet?
A fitted sheet has elasticated corners that grip your mattress and stay put. A flat sheet is a plain rectangular sheet that sits on top of the fitted sheet and under your quilt or doona. The two work together. Our sets include both, plus pillowcases, all in the same bamboo-cotton fabric.
Are Flat Sheets good for hot sleepers?
Yes, especially ours. The bamboo-cotton blend is naturally breathable and moisture-wicking, so the sheet actively helps regulate temperature rather than trapping heat. A lot of our customers who run warm use the flat sheet on its own through summer and only bring the quilt in for winter.
How do I wash bamboo-cotton Flat Sheets?
Cold or warm wash (30-40 degrees), gentle cycle, tumble dry low or line dry. Skip the fabric softener. It coats the bamboo fibre and reduces breathability over time. The sheets soften on their own with regular washing. For more information, visit our Care Guide.
